Having a healthy gut is optimal for a healthy body. You could be healthy in all other aspects, but if your gut is unhealthy it can wreck havoc on your body. The health of your gut is largely tied to the health of your body. So your gut could be the root of your possible health problems.

The reason the gut has such a huge influence on our bodies is because our gut is filled with 100 trillion bacteria. Bacteria usually has a negative connotation to it, but there is actually such a thing as good bacteria. We want our gut to be filled with the good bacteria to help protect our body, but when we eat crappy food we are feeding our gut bad bacteria and this affects our immune system. At least 70% of our immune system is in our gut. Therefore if our gut is in bad health, our immune system will be too.

Not only will having a healthy gut improve your immune system, but it will improve your digestion. Having a smooth digestion will help with bloating and other stomach issues.

One of my favorite ways to make sure I am putting good bacteria in my body is by taking and drinking probiotics.

Probiotics are filled with good bacteria, so you can be sure you are benefiting your gut. My favorite probiotic filled product is kombucha. Kombucha is a fermented tea that naturally contains probiotics and healthy organic acids. There are many different brands and flavors, but one I really enjoy is Health-Ade. Health-Ade is delicious and low in sugar. Farmhouse Culture is another recommendation of mine; they make awesome gut shots and other fermented goodies. I have personally tried the gut shots and all you have to do is take as many shot-sized sips as desired and you are good to go. The simplest way to get probiotics is by taking probiotics pills. They are found in the refrigerated section (because they contain living organisms). Just pop a probiotic pill everyday and you are on a fast track way to a healthy gut!

So if you are experiencing any health problems, look at your gut health first. Fixing the state of your gut can dramatically improve your health and help balance out your body.
